The 'un-fashionable' way of wardrobe planning :O
Weāve just passed the September Equinox, meaning autumnš is officially here!! (Equinox is just an astronomical event that is related to the duration of day & night, so if youāre looking to define autumn in terms of temperature differencesā¦ move out of Hong Kong! :P #geek #passiveagressive #globalwarming)
Iāve mentioned that it was time to start planning our fall wardrobe a week ago, which inspired me to write a post on the different levels of sustainability, because I find it quite difficult to #haveitall and buy clothes with absolutely 0 environmental impact. Perhaps like what @reformation says, āBeing naked is the #1 most sustainable optionā, haha!
Here Iām running an experiment on how to reconstructing my wardrobe from a ātop-downā approach - defining what I need and like before making any purchase... But I donāt think Iām getting that semi-baby blue / semi-turquoise silk blouse because considering it is SILK and silk yellows when it meets sweat & sunlightā¦ this colour is too light so it definitely canāt hide the yellow stains. Since I am a heavy sweater even during winter - #notagoodchoice
Definitely not a fashionable selection but I do consider quite a number of aspects before I purchase (quite self-explanatory above), and Iāve missed 2 important aspect!
**
āš¼QUALITY:
- Fabric (does it suit the season? Like cotton & linen are summer fabric, and silk is all year round, wool for winter, etc.)
- Stretch (affects how comfortable you are in them)
- Weight (affects how it drapes on your body)
- Feel (some fabric irritates skin, thatās totally personal)
- Seams (NEVER buy anything with a loose / non-stitched hem, it looks like you walked away with a half-finished piece from the sewing machine)
šµSUSTAINABILITY:
Like I said before, buying brands which are āethicalā and āgreenā is quite difficultā¦š and here I try to find pieces that I like + which have a certain level of transparency in their production & also attempt to reduce environmental footprint. Iām also planning to get my own tailored midi-skirt from @sewonstudio!

BENEFITS:
ā”ļø You can start curating your closet (how exciting!) around what you have and what you donāt.
ā”ļø ā”ļø This is only way to feel in control, not led by trends.
